Gynecology and Obstetrics specialist
Prof. Dr. Aysel Uysal completed her primary, secondary, and high school education in Antalya. She graduated with honors from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1991 and completed her specialization training in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, also achieving top marks in the specialist examination. While serving as a specialist physician at various hospitals and clinics, she also raised two daughters. She was appointed as an assistant professor in 2008, associate professor in 2012, and received the title of professor in 2020.
She has attended numerous courses and meetings in the field of perinatology (pregnancy and fetal diseases) and received training at the Perinatology Clinic at Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 2010. She has a wide range of international publications and conference presentations on pregnancy-related diseases (such as diabetes, obesity, nausea-vomiting), preterm births, recurrent vaginal infections during pregnancy, the effect of exercise and nutrition on childbirth, the impact of birth timing and method on postpartum lung problems in babies, and various dual and triple tests.
Since 2010, she has increasingly performed surgeries using minimally invasive techniques such as laparoscopy and hysteroscopy. In 2015, she completed a robotic surgery course and now performs various uterine surgeries using the latest Da Vinci XI® Robotic Surgery System. During the same period, she specialized in urogynecology (prolapse of the uterus, bladder, and intestines into the vagina, urinary and fecal incontinence) by participating in various courses and cadaver studies, receiving one-on-one training from expert mentors. She performs a wide range of surgeries and treatments tailored to individual patients based on their age, overall health, and sexual life, using vaginal, abdominal, laparoscopic, and robotic techniques. In 2016, she organized a 2-day course for regional physicians on laparoscopic and robotic urogynecological surgeries and has international publications and conference presentations on these topics.
From 2011 to 2015, she served as a consultant physician at Antalya KETEM for women's health. She conducted colposcopies (examination of the cervix under high light with various dyes, including biopsies of suspicious areas) and provided treatments to patients with abnormal cervical cancer screening results referred from Antalya city center and districts. In 2014, she established the Colposcopy Unit at Antalya Training and Research Hospital.
In 2014, she worked at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, in the IVF Unit, completing her training in infertility and IVF. She established the Infertility Clinic and Andrology Laboratory at Antalya Training and Research Hospital in the same year, where infertility treatments excluding IVF are performed. Her dedicated work led to the pride of establishing Antalya's second public IVF unit on May 20, 2022, and achieving success with her first patient becoming pregnant. She continued her work at the IVF unit until mid-February 2023.
She has numerous international and national publications and has supervised theses for many resident physicians. She takes pride in establishing a modern tertiary women's health and maternity clinic in Antalya with all units, aiming to practice medicine following scientific evidence, adhering to the principles of the Hippocratic Oath and ethical standards, and providing meticulous and respectful care tailored to each patient's individual differences.
